Located in the Khotang district of eastern Nepal, Halesi Mahadev is prominent for cultural and religious purposes. It is also known as the Pashupatinath temple of eastern Nepal since the main deity of these two temples is Mahadeva or Lord Shiva. Halesi Mahadev is an important sacred place for both the Hindus and Buddhists. Moreover, the Kirati people inhabitant here worships Halesi as their ancestral god and the place resembles their history. Holy rivers like Dudh Koshi and SunKoshi can be glimpsed from the cave as well.
Important festivals like Shivaratri, Ram Navami, and Ganesh Chaturthi are celebrated in Halesi Mahadev by the people residing here.
